Bob Benvie was a well-known resident of the Creston Valley who loved to explore the mountains, hiking trails and bicycle routes of our region.  Following Bob’s passing last winter, his family and friends raised funds for Trails for Creston Valley Society to commission a memorial bench in his honor, to be located at a scenic viewpoint along a mountain trail near Creston.  On May 18, an engraved cedar log bench built by local woodworker Marshall Thompson was installed at 1.7 km along the Billy Goat Bluff Trail just north of town.

Many thanks to Bob’s family and friends who made this project possible, along with the kind support of the Creston Community Forest.

Please visit Bob’s bench and remember our friend with his big smile and deep love of outdoor recreation.
