We’re excited to share the incredible progress made on our local trails this year, thanks to the hard work of our volunteers and support from our amazing community partners. Here are the highlights: 1️⃣ Volunteer Work Bees: Over 341 hours of dedicated work during nine work bees cleared blowdown and trimmed back vegetation on the Fern Forest Trail, Williams Creek Falls Trail, Mt. Midgeley Trail, and Monk Lake Trail. Volunteers also tackled the alders on the Mt. Midgeley access road to ensure safe and easy access for all. 2️⃣ Trapper’s Cabin Updates: The historic cabin on the Mt. Midgeley Trail was cleaned, and a brand-new roof was installed on its outhouse, preserving its charm and functionality. 3️⃣ Ka Papa Cedar Trails Maintenance: This year’s improvements included clearing blowdown, trimming vegetation, enhancing water drainage, and adding steel mesh to one deck and steps for safer adventures. A new outhouse roof was also provided by Recreation Sites and Trails BC. 4️⃣ Fern Forest Trail Legal Status: We submitted a Section 57 application to Recreation Sites and Trails BC to secure official status for the Fern Forest Trail, ensuring it can be properly maintained and upgraded under our Partnership Agreement. 5️⃣ Ka Papa Roof Installation: A new roof was installed on the bridge across Summit Creek, providing additional safety and usability for trail visitors. 6️⃣ Public Access Agreements: Agreements with a private landowner and the Creston Valley Wildlife Management Area now secure public access to key sections of the Williams Creek Falls and Fern Forest trails, allowing TCVS to maintain these cherished paths. We are so grateful to our volunteers, partners, and community for their ongoing support. Together, we’re ensuring Creston Valley’s trails remain accessible, safe, and enjoyable.
