Balancing Rock Work Bee – Trail Cleared & Spirits High!

Sunday’s Balancing Rock Trail Work Bee was a resounding success — thanks to 10 incredible volunteers who showed up early, stayed energized, and gave their all!

We met at 8:00 a.m. near the Summit Creek Bridge on Hwy 3, determined to beat the heat and clear the trail before the midday sun. After hiking the Fern Forest Trail to the wetlands (1.5 km with 190m of elevation gain), our team got to work brushing and clearing the trail all the way to Holly Falls — another 1.5 km stretch climbing 400m.

With teamwork and tools in hand, the group tackled overgrown vegetation, trimmed back the trail, and made significant improvements to accessibility along this scenic route. Most of the heavy lifting was finished before the real heat hit, making for a productive and comfortable morning on the mountain.

After wrapping up, we were treated to stunning overhead views of the valley and ended our hike with a refreshing splash at Holly Falls — the perfect reward after a job well done.

We’re incredibly grateful to all 10 volunteers who came out to lend their time, energy, and positive spirit. Your contributions help keep our trails open, safe, and beautiful for the entire community to enjoy.

Thank you for making this work bee one to remember!

Stay tuned for the next opportunity to get involved — we’d love to have you join us.
