Building Bridges @ Sanca Creek Trail

Over two more very productive days, an incredible group of volunteers and the dedicated RSTBC crew made major strides toward completing one of our key infrastructure upgrades—six new footbridges along the trail!

Day One:

Ted, Brenda, Mark, and Jerry rolled up their sleeves and got straight to work—building not one, but two bridges in a single day, thanks to the team’s coordination, hard work, and commitment. With the sun shining and tools in hand, we couldn’t have asked for a better way to kick off the project.

Day |Two:

5 of the 6 footings are now complete and ready for decking. Two of the six are officially finished and ready to support hikers this summer. The remaining four are well on their way to completion.

To make the area even more accessible, the crew also took time to cut back and dig out overgrown alder shrubs at the crossing. This small but crucial step will help us better identify where the new aluminum bridge abutments should be placed. Precision matters—and the team handled it with care.

What’s Next?

Next week, we’ll finish decking the remaining bridges and wrap up this transformative project. With every plank placed and every branch cleared, our trails are becoming safer, more accessible, and even more welcoming for all.

A heartfelt thank you to our amazing volunteers and partners at RSTBC. Your sweat, strength, and spirit drive these trails forward—one bridge at a time.

Stay tuned for more photos of the progress—and come explore the new improvements once the work is complete!
