The 2026 Bear Fair is a free, family-friendly community event featuring expert speakers, bear spray demonstrations, and interactive booths, bringing coexistence education and awareness to Kootenay Valley.

About the event
The event will include a structured an attractant audit, planned speeches, and vendors. This year, we are gathering a diverse group of farmers, orchardists, wildlife organizations, and government representatives, and we invite every community member to participate in this educational day. Our goal is to raise awareness about the bears that inhabit the valley we live, work and play in.
We are looking for several volunteers - the idea is: many hands make the load light.
What are the volunteer hour options?
Full-day - 7 hours from 9:00 am - 4:00 pm with breaks
Part-day - 2, 4, or 6 hour intervals between 9:00 am- 4:00 pm with breaks
